So, maybe I’m a little late on getting this one up here, but it’s just as fresh today as it was a couple months ago and I know heaps of you are still jumpin’ on this banger. I know I am!

CHAMPION MUSIC - CHEKID & CORTEXT
A Brief History

Chekid (Rick Thornton) & Cortext (Sean Clark) are two emcee's from separate hip hop crews; Chekid from Freekstyles and Cortext from DSC, who are also part of the same "Fam" (Sound Magnetiks Affiliation). These guys have come together to make an album called "Champion Music" and recently toured the album in south W.A. with Illy & 360, as well as Phrase & M-Phazes.

Just before releasing an album with his original group FreekStyles called "The Rise Above", Chekid was introduced to Cortext, finding different styles that mixed well, and with great motivation to create new tracks every day, with a different feel to every new song made, the new album was born.
Produced by Chekid mc, the album is now available in a 2 page layout jewel case, with 18 songs.
Collaborating with some of the best emcees & singers in Australia, with features from Porsah Laine, to Moondog J (from Optamus) playing harmonica on "Strings".

For the second time in quick succession, these fine young men are taking their show on the road. You can catch them in a town near you, or even a distant place worth driving to, to check the dopeness up close.

On A Serious Note

Hey all, got some bad news unfortunately... The other night at Mixtape Tuesday (The Newport Hotel) after previous warnings somebody thought it would be a good idea to graff the toilets. I'm not sure if they intentionally want to disrespect Rico and all of us in the Perth Hip Hop scene but you have. The Newport Hotel is one of the last venues in Perth that supports Hip Hop and they have warned us not to graffiti the place and the consequences will be that we will no longer be welcome to perform there. It may seem like some harmless graffiti but to me this is a personal attack on Rico and our scene. I will post the pictures below so if you know who does any of the following tags please warn them to not do it at The Newport. Rico has asked that somebody come forward with information on who has done this. I don't know how many of you actually follow the scene or just like to come down and hang out but please just know how hard Rico has worked and has to continue to work to make these events happen. For those that were around when it was BYP rockin' the stage and about 10 of us in the crowd Rico was the one that got the whole thing started and we aren't about to lose the BEST venue in Perth for Hip Hop over some petty shit. Fremantle is HUGE, if you want to graff there are plenty of places that aren't The Newport so go do it there. Anyway, I hope this issue gets resolved because if we  lose The Newport we can pretty much wave the whole scene good bye as the rest of Perth will only cater to us so often.

Mixtape Tuesday - Tomorrow Night!

Hey all, just wanted to remind you all that Mixtape Tuesday is tomorrow night and this will be the last Mixtape Tuesday. From next month it will be known as Mixtape Thursday as Rico has managed to push us up in the world and give us a later night in the week. Tomorrow night will see Original Fortune, Soma, RNS Crew, The Pantheon Vanguard and Myself (my first show ever). So please come down and support your local Oz Hip Hop. First 10 people to come up to me and tell me "I am Lordin'" will receive a free Perth Underground T-Shirt. They aren't the best (I kind of stuffed up the first batch) but they aren't too bad.

Hey all, I released my first EP today called "The Origin Of... Charlie Mitchel". It is available for FREE below so make sure you grab a copy. I will be making a small amount of Hard Copies so make sure you hit me up if you want one (you will have to cover postage or pick-up). Today also marks the 1st Birthday of Perth Underground. It was exactly one year ago since I woke up and decided that this is what Perth Hip Hop was missing. Thanks to everybody that has supported what I have been doing since the start and I will try to keep this going strong in the future.

Hey all, Rae has released his first album called Fluke and it is rather impressive considering he has only been making beats for 5 months. Well worth the time to check it out and it is great to see more artists coming up in Perth.
