Tektonik - Limitless Review

I got to peep Tektonik's new mixtape a couple of weeks early. The mixtape plays OK from start to finish and has a few stand out tracks. The tracks to jump out at me off this tape were “This is it”, “My Theme”, “Agreed Greed (Featuring Dismay)” and “Never Give Up”. The overall presentation and deliver of the mixtape was excellent. Tektonik has a knack for promoting and getting people to listen to his tunes. At the time of writing Tektonik had 3 of his singles in the top 20 of Triple J Unearthed.

The negative people I can pick out for this tape is that the intro is slightly repetitive before the verse drops, the singing on a few of the tracks is a little painful and some of the tracks appear to be quieter than others. On a personal note I am into darker Hip Hop so I apologize for any bias against the more Pop/Club orientated racks.

This mixtape, as I have said before is an excellent effort from all involved. I'm not sure if many of you knew but Tektonik had been subject to some undeserved hate and negative comments. Instead of letting it get to him he focussed his energy and proved that he is competitive among Perth's top Hip Hop artists. I am also looking forward to an upcoming collaboration with Tektonik that will be available for download on Perth Underground.

Tektonik has provided us with a tape that won't be ditched after 1 listen. Good beat selection and a wide scope of content will keep this in rotation for a while.

6/10
