Album Credits - Part 2 - Mobb Deep - The Infamous...
Hey all, so a few days back I did a small analysis of the credits in MMLP and now I am back with part 2. This time around I will be covering Mobb Deep's classic The Infamous... (again chosen at random out of my collection).
Mobb Deep - The Infamous...
The credits in this album are laid out as follows (I am going to just list them properly as I can't be bothered thinking of random names again).
Eye For A Eye (Your Beef Is Mines) 4:54
(A. Johnson/K. Muchita/N. Jones/ C. Woods)
produced by Mobb Deep
Featuring Nas and Raekwon The Chef
recorded by Tim Latham at Platinum Island Studios, NYC
mixed by Mobb Deep and Tony Smalios at Unique Recording Studios, NYC
Careers-BMG Music Publishing Inc./Albert Johnson/Ramecca
Music, administered by Careers-BMG Music Publishing Inc.
(BMI)/BMG Songs, Inc./Juvenile Hell Publishing, administered
by BMG Songs, Inc./Zomba Music Publishing (ASCAP)
Again this is the way it is unless one of the roles is different or not required. It seems that they weren't as anal retentive as me when it comes to capital letters but the font they used is all caps anyway (capital letters are just larger than the smaller ones). The credits in this album get the point across and don't seem too fussed about grammar. So it seems I am incorrect once again :D. I am getting the idea that it doesn't matter so much as long as the credits are consistent with the rest of the album.

Album Credits: Part 1
Hey all, for some of you that may have seen there was a bit of a discussion on album credits and roles of beat makers, song writers, session musicians and producers. Instead of beating a dead horse and debating a topic where everybody is correct I thought I would pick out 5 albums at random from my collection and have a look at how they have set out their album credits. It was my opinion that the beat maker does not always necessarily have to be credited as a producer but others may not agree with me.
Instead of doing all 5 albums at once (which I stated yesterday) I will do one at a time due to having to do actual work at my job (I know right?!).
Song Name
(D.A Rapper, A beatjacker, S Equencer) - writers
Produced by: A Producer
Mixed by: T.A Engineer
Recording and Mix Engineer: M Assistant
Bass: U Bassplayer
Guitar: M Strummer
Keyboards: I.M Creative
Assistant Engineer: D.A Biatch
Published by: Music Label
All songs are laid out like this unless one of the roles is not filled.
In the MMLP my idea of how an album should be credited is wrong (although I don't know exactly how this album was recorded and produced so I could be right). In this case the rapper, and beat-makers are listed as song writers and producers and the extras such as mixing and recording engineers, session musicians, assistants and publishers are also credited. The mastering engineer does not make an appearance here as in most cases the mastering for an entire album is done by one person (or one team).
I will continue tomorrow (hopefully) with another random album and hopefully anybody involved can gain some knowledge and release some more professional looking albums.
** Note, they used Produced by in the credits... GRRR

EMINEM - MMLP
First off, I was wrapped that this came out and I am surprised that it came out first. Dr Dre has been a massive inspiration to anything music related I have ever done and is still one of my overall favourites.
The credits in this booklet are laid out professionally in the below format.
