AlphaNumeric - Alpha Bytes

A dope producer in your very own city that you may not have heard of. I can hear the tippy-tap of keyboards across the state as you google the shit out of this guy. And so you should. He loves it. Because it’s what I do, and because it makes bringing you this information as easily as possible, I have scratched together a bit of an interview with the man himself. Minimal effort with maximum gain. Once again, cast your eyes downward for everything you need to know about the new local up-and-comer AlphaNumeric.

Who is Alphanumeric?

I'm what happens when a child prodigy grows up! Nah, but on the real, I'm a 20 year old lad repping Perth, W.A. I'm a student of the world and lover of the arts. I dabble around in beats and would like to consider myself a bit of a beat aficionado! Been making beats seriously for 2 years.

Who have you worked with previously?
I've just started hooking up vocalists/emcees with my beats, so as of today I've worked with:
Knoe Fm (Perth) Soma (Perth) Savo (Queensland) None Required (Perth) Ray (Perth) . All talented fellas!

What are you working on now?
At the moment I'm working on my own beat tape titled 'AlphaBytes' its due for release on the
12th of September. Follow this space for exclusive leaks -
http://alphanumeric.bandcamp.com
Also producing all the joints for Knoe Fm's untitled mix tape dropping in months to come.

Which producers inspire you? Who do you listen to?
Where do I start! Obviously all the kings: Pete Rock, Premo, Dilla, Madlib, 9th Wonder, Alchemist, Q-tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammed, Large Pro, RZA, Hi-Tek, Havoc, Diamond D, M-Phazes and Dre. As far as unknown/underground cats go: Kelakovski, FlyLo, Croup, Freddie Joachim, Apatight, Jaisu, Apollo brown, Skywlkr, Harry love, Lewis parker, BoomBaptist, Black Milk, Damu the Fudgemunk, DELA, Dibiase, Dockmini, Elaquent, Hudson Mohawke, Samiyam. PLEASE don't sleep on these cats. Google them.

What plans do you have for your music in the future? Who do you want to work with?
I was sorta hoping Dre picks me up, jets to me to L.A and we'd start working on some Detox 2 Bangers... Haha! Nah I just plan on getting myself known in the beat scene...Perth, Aus and worldwide. With the help of the internet these days, exposure is something us up and coming artists can gain quite easily. As long as what your producing is consistent dope shit. Of course... Would also love to work with some local Aussie talent!

Kharma Records

For those of you that made it down to the Aftershock album launch, you were amongst the many that helped deflower the new Promotions collective known as Kharma Records. Of course I mean that figuratively. Kharma Records is fronted by Scott “Ranga” Howie (The Ginger Muscle), Wolverine (The Mouth) and DJ SteveeC (The Tricky Fingers). These guys are old hats in the hip hop scene, but new comers to the wacky world of Events Promotion. If you were impressed with the show put on by Aftershock and the many supporting acts, then direct your applause at the hardworking gentlemen behind the scenes, who helped bring you local cats an all-ages hip hop event that no doubt proved memorable to all in attendance. Cast your eyes downward for my interview with the towering young ginger kid we all know and love, Mr. Ranga Howie.

Tell me, exactly who is Kharma Records?
Kharma Records was created in 2010 by Wolverine, Ranga and Stevee C as one of Perth’s new record labels and Promotion Company’s. We will be putting on live shows and helping artists to achieve their goals of getting their music out there. For any info drop any of us a message.

To reiterate, what events have you hosted?
To date all we have hosted is the Aftershock “So This Is Vandalism” Launch which was extremely successful with over 200 people coming through the doors on the night. The event was held at the Kingsway Football Club and because of the success of the event we have been asked to do a quarterly gig there.

What events are you currently working on?
Right now, I’m as flat out as a lizard to water. Am Working on Surreal and Torcha‘s dual Launch on the 18th of September. Intelekts “Greatest EP Ever” launch, Down South Crew’s “The New E.R.A” LP launch, my own launch “The Real Ranga Prime Minister” EP and the Bush Poetics mix tape dual launch. Plus Aftershocks latest release “Creating Silence” which will be a WA tour.

Are you just working with Australian artists?
For the time being yes, but I am very keen on getting a few cats in from over the Atlantic.

How can we contact you for more information?
Contact me or any of the fellas on the bookface or on the Kharma Records fan page (free plug I know but click “like” on it) or email me directly at: rangabeard@hotmail.com
